Merangkul by Ririn Yaxley
In a new body of work, artist Ririn Yaxley uses natural materials and upcycled objects and combines a large-scale installation, sculpture, and wearable art, under the name Merangkul (me-rung-kool) which means “embracing” in Bahasa Indonesia.
Within the work Ririn explores new connections to place through the process of textile felting. This process is Ririn’s way of Merangkul (embracing) Australia and connecting to the land and nature.
Merangkul is Ririn first major exhibition. Her works are on display at MAMA Albury from 21 July to 15 October 2023
